Road Trip to Guelph

Look at these beautiful hand bound, hand painted journals!  This is what students made at Sunday’s workshop at the Guelph School of Art; Painted Longstitch/Linkstitch journals.  If you’ve never been, this is a gorgeous, light filled studio on the 3rd floor of Wyndham Art Supplies in the heart of Guelph.

A big Thank You to everyone at Guelph School of Art, it’s always a pleasure teaching there.

If you missed out and want to join the bookbinding fun, I have more workshops coming up over the next couple of months.  Go here to see what’s next.

The Studio on a Sunday (On a Monday)

photo 5-5On Sunday I was in a different studio, out of the city, teaching my craft to a lovely group of folks!  This is the Guelph School of Art, and it is one fun place to teach!  To the left is a wall (yes, a wall) of art supplies for every type of art imaginable!  To the right you can just make out the drying rack for printmaking and other 2D art that might need to lay flat to dry. And those windows!  Letting in all that natural light!!photo 1-70_fotor

This was a coptic binding workshop and everyone left with a finished project.  Covers they designed and collaged, then bound into a nice little hardcover book using the coptic stitch.  As I tell everyone who takes my classes: if you want to retain what you’ve learned, make another book within 1 week.  Practice makes perfect!!

I have more workshops coming up, the next one is this sunday here in Toronto at Graven Feather.  Take a look at the Workshops section of my site for details, more are in the works and will be announced shortly!

Studio Sunday (on a Monday!)

Yesterday was my last bookbinding workshop for 2015!  I’m so happy with the response these classes have received, and how eager people in learning to make their own handbound books!!photo 3_fotorWith that in mind, I’m pleased to announce that there are some new workshops for 2016!  I’ve kept everyone’s favourites and added a couple of new classes (and a new location!) to the roster.  While you don’t have to have any prior bookbinding experience to take my classes, they are great chance to dust off your bookbinding skills and get a refresher in technique.
