The Studio on a Sunday

Today in the studio.  Well, the last several weeks in the studio, really. It’s crunch time and my studio is buzzing with activity as I prep for the One of a Kind Show and Sale.  With less than a month to go (gasp!) I’ve got some of the popular books ready to go, but I’m also working on some new items, which I’ll share in a little bit.  For now, it’s back to the studio!

DSC_0706Today I’m finishing up enough Canadiana Journals to last through the holiday season, that’s the plan anyways!!  Take a look at some of the new colours I’m introducing, great for gift giving to the dapper Canuck on your list.

See one of the listings here, more to come over the next week.

Day 363/365photo-23Today in the studio I’m tackling leather journals!  I’m completely out of them in the Etsy shop, so I figured it’s time to restock.  First ones should be online early next week.

This time around I’m keeping it simple; one size, one stitch style, and just a few neutral colour choices.  There may be some options for personalization in the near future!!  Keep your eyes peeled for this exciting development!!

New in the Shop

Day 360/365DSC_0747Meet the newest addition to the Sprouts Press online shop!  A good old coptic journal, with a built in braided bookmark complete with coin and bead!  Perfect for adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts, this is a tree-lovers journal.

Pages are 100% recycled blank paper, and covers are handmade paper in a lovely soft shade of yellow with a green leaves print.  You can see small flecks and bits of botanicals in the fibres, it’s really beautiful!

See it here.

Day 349/365

photo 2This past week I’ve been in full swing preparing for Etsy: Made in Canada, Toronto edition at the MaRS building.

I’ve been working hard at re-designing some of my books and I can’t wait to share the new and improved Adventure Journal with you at the show!
photo 1 This is a small sampling of what many Adventure Journals looks like!  These guys aren’t quite done yet, but almost there.  I love how each is a bit different from the maps on the covers to the scuffs and nicks in the reclaimed leather closures.  These are my favourite journals!!

Day 346/365DSC_0726_fotor

Please welcome some new handbound beauties into my Etsy shop: Hand Dyed Fancy Coptic Journals!  I think of these two books as being part of the same series because the covers are more sparsely dyed than some of the other hand dyed books.  I didn’t put a leather closure on either of them for that exact reason: I didn’t want any hardware to interfere with the composition on the front.

Q & A Letterbox

Day 339/365

Surprise!  I’m happy to announce that Sprouts Press was included in this month’s Q & A Letterbox!!  Go here to see the reveal post on their website.  11228501_1526586664299104_3675117993110814430_n

In case you don’t know, Q&A is a monthly subscription of mostly stationery items.  There are always 3 cards (usually by local artists/designers) and an extra paper goodie which range from bookmarks to vintage stamps to super mini notebooks!

One of my favourite things about this company: the name ‘Q&A’ isn’t just for cute factor (and the first letter of each of their names).  There are actually a series of blog posts on the Q&A website dedicated to mini interviews with each designer who contributes!  How smart is that?!  Take a look at my questions & answers hereDSC_0705

My contribution: I designed the Gold Nugget Mini Handpainted notebook, pictured above, just for the folks at Q & A (cause they’re pretty awesome!!).  Check out their website, here, to learn more and become a subscriber.
