New to the shop

Day 205/365 DSC_0664 Some new arrivals to the Sprouts Press Etsy shop!  The Gold Florentine Journal, above, is as perfect for at-home writing as it is for on-the-go sketching!  The finishing touches really bring out the character of this book, especially the reclaimed leather and vintage brass button.  See it here.   DSC_0680The Map Journal, above, is one of many map journals I’ve made.  I don’t know what it is about maps, but I love them.  So, of course, I put them on covers of books, and inside books!  The covers of this journal showcase a map of Greece, a place I have yet to go.  It would make a wonderful travel journal/sketchbook, especially with the closure and spine protector to keep any collected paper ephemera safely inside.  See it here.

Did you know I have an entire Travel Journal section in my Etsy shop?  Check it out here!

The Wayzgoose Annual Book Arts Fair

Day 195/365

It’s the best time of the year; time for the Wayzgoose!!  I’m not even going to try and hide the fact that this is my most favourite show of the year, anyone who’s attended will understand.11017211_821195567958006_3693839125684605134_o

This is an annual gathering of bookbinders, book artists, papermakers, printmakers, paper marblers, and anyone who makes things to do with these things.  We all get together for the day to show our work, engage in shop talk and be inspired!  It’s the best.

Traditionally a Wayzgoose is a feast held by a printing house for it’s employees.  Today the Wayzgoose is a day-long fair, plus a gorgeous letterpress printed poster (like the one above by Graven Feather, of course!).  And it’s also when the Wayzgoose anthology comes out, which is bound in a limited edition of 115 copies each year, with signatures from the vendors of the fair and local printmakers.  Like I said, it’s pretty incredible!  Check it out if you can, details below.

When:  Saturday April 25, 9am – 5pm
Where: Grimsby Public Art Gallery, 18 Carnegie Lane, Grimsby, Ontario.

Springtime!

Day 164/365DSC_0682_fotor

Springtime has finally arrived!  I’m really looking forward to some outdoor time without the 10 minute scarf/hat/mitts/boots/coats routine.  I’m also looking forward to warm weather and outdoor sketching, and journalling on patios and cafes!

I’ve got some fun springtimey things planned for the blog over the next little while, stay tuned!  In the meantime, it’s okay to start breaking out the spring wardrobe, right?

Farewell Wintertime

Day 154/365DSC_0721_fotor

An ode to the end of winter.  I’ve pulled together my most wintery, icy blue and white items as a farewell to the season of snow and freezing temperatures.  Mostly because it’s time for spring, but also because I love the beauty of winter.

Clockwise from the top left:
Indigo Starburst Journal hand dyed paper in indigo, Wintertime Bookbinding Kit makes 2 notebooks, Mini Pocket Notes Journal hardcover journal that fits in your hand as well as your bag, White Linen Pouch screenprinted with Thistles in aqua, Navy Watercolour Sketchbook with ribbon bookmark, Quick Notes Notebook handpainted in Indigo and Silver, Paper Moon Book Earrings made from reclaimed papers, Starburst Journal in blue and white Florentine pattern.
