Workshop Wednesday!

Join me on Wednesday April 12 from 6:30pm – 9:30pm for a beginner class in bookbinding!

Everyone will hand bind their own notebook using traditional bookbinding techniques, and then letterpress print the cover on one of the vintage presses at the museum.

Springtime Workshop Addition!!

I know it’s cold and wintery here in Toronto right now, but I’ve been working away planning springtime workshops!  The newest addition to the schedule is the return of the Coptic Stitch class over at Toronto’s First Post Office.  dsc_0682We’ll cover the basics of bookbinding, go over the tools of the trade and then learn how to put it all together into a beautiful handcrafted journal. This is a hands-on class and students will leave with a finished project.

All materials are supplied. This workshop is intended for adults. This is a great introduction to bookbinding, and also suitable for more experienced paper crafters, looking for a refresher.

Flexagons: the BEST kind of hexagons!

Join me for an evening of exploration and creativity in a hands on workshop where you’ll not only learn the secrets of a flexagon, but create your very own!!  We’ll be making a variation of a flexagon with 6 faces that are hidden within, and revealed when the piece is ‘flexed’.

dsc_0707While I’m taking a day off today, yesterday I was at CBBAG (Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild).  I was teaching folks the joys of deconstructing old books and making them into new ones using the coptic stitch.

I’ll be teaching the Coptic stitch in this workshop, I’d love if you joined me!  This is the perfect class for those wanting to learn how to make a hardcover book, without the need for a book press.

I’m so pleased to announce that there is a new date for another class of ‘Deconstructed & Reclaimed: From discarded novel to Coptic journal‘; one of my most popular bookbinding workshops!

In this class, participants will learn how to craft their own hand-bound hardcover journal using discarded books. This workshop will introduce the tools of the trade, materials, and techniques to deconstruct a book and repurpose it into a new journal, using the Coptic stitch to bind the book.

Perfect for beginners or those looking to practice and brush up on their Coptic binding skills, everyone will leave with a finished project.
