It’s that time of year, when your local makers and artisans come out to celebrate the warmer season with our finely made goods! This year we’ll be at Campbell House museum, both indoors and outdoors like last year. You will find art, crafts and fine food items!

June’s Bookbinding Classes are open for registration! Whether you’re a beginner or looking to brush up your skills, you’re most welcome to sign up! See below for details.
Hardcover Arrow Stitch Bookbinding
After a brief introduction to bookbinding and the tools of the trade, students will learn how to make their own hard cover book from scratch, using Paperhouse’s gorgeous handmade papers and the Arrow Stitch bookbinding technique.
Students will learn the skill of wrapping boards properly for book covers, and the secrets to stitching the Arrow Stitch.
When: Monday June 19, 2017 6:30pm – 9:30pm

Painted Longstitch Linkstitch Bookbinding
Join us for a day of creative book making! Students will be introduced to the basics of decorating cover paper with acrylic paint and a variety of tools. Followed by a quick introduction to bookbinding and the tools of the trade, students will then learn the Longstitch/Linkstitch bookbinding technique and incorporate the decorated papers.

I’m so excited to announce that I’ll be participating as an artisan in this year’s Bees (& the Birds) show over at the TEST Gallery! I’ll be making a series of pollinator themed journals and notebooks (think hexagons, florals and shimmery shiny gold!) that are perfect for garden notes, summer camp and cottage adventures.

This week I’m throwing it back to last week when I practiced my sewn headbands on a Bradel binding. 
Just a simple single bead with silk thread onto a single core. Perhaps it’s because I get to use a needle and thread, or perhaps it’s because of instant gratification (no pressing or drying time!), but I really enjoy sewing headbands. It’s still fairly new to me, but I am hooked!
I’ll be posting more about this project in coming Studio Sundays. See you next week for part two!

If you missed last nights class, I will be teaching more bookbinding classes in June, at Paperhouse Studio!!On June 10 I’ll be teaching the popular Longstitch/Linkstitch at Paperhouse Studios, located in Artsccape Youngplace on Shaw St. This is one of my favourite classes to teach as we get a chance to really be creative with colour and mark-making!

This past saturday was the opening for the group show I’m in: Wunderkammer: The Cabinet of Curiosity. It was curated by the Captain of the Toronto Etsy Street Team and all pieces included are of a science/nature theme.
