About sproutspress

As a bookbinder and artist, I like to live in a fairly analog world. I bind books by hand, with a needle and thread, I paint, draw. You get the idea. I blog about bookbinding, paper arts, crafting and other bookish goodness.

Springtime Workshop Addition!!

I know it’s cold and wintery here in Toronto right now, but I’ve been working away planning springtime workshops!  The newest addition to the schedule is the return of the Coptic Stitch class over at Toronto’s First Post Office.  dsc_0682We’ll cover the basics of bookbinding, go over the tools of the trade and then learn how to put it all together into a beautiful handcrafted journal. This is a hands-on class and students will leave with a finished project.

All materials are supplied. This workshop is intended for adults. This is a great introduction to bookbinding, and also suitable for more experienced paper crafters, looking for a refresher.

What: Coptic Stitch Bookbinding
When: Thursday May 25, 6pm – 9pm
Where: Toronto’s First Post Office, 260 Adelaide Street East, Toronto
For more information & to register, please go here.

There are more workshops being planned, stay tuned for details to be revealed soon!  In the meantime, keep an eye on my Workshops page.

February: International Correspondence Writing Month!

February just got a whole lot better.  Why? Because it’s International Correspondence Writing Month! (InCoWriMo for short)

To participate, all you have to do is hand write and mail/deliver one piece of correspondence a day for the month of February.  This can be letters, postcards, notes, cards, etc.  And it can be to anyone; strangers, public figures, friends, family, etc.  You can write to a different person each day, the same person every day, or any combo in between!  collageit

And good news, if you want to keep all this correspondence organized, take a look at Sprouts Press’ Correspondence Journals!  You may remember them from last year’s One of a Kind Christmas Show (maybe you got one as a gift?).  They’re finally available online, take a look here.  More colours are being added daily, so keep your eyes peeled!

Or, if you prefer to shop in person, I’ll have a selection of Correspondence Journals, amongst other hand bound journals, available at the Paper Fair this saturday (February 4, 2017) at Toronto’s First Post Office.  Please go here for details.

Want more information about InCoWriMo?  Check out the official website here.
