Bookbinding Class at Paperhouse Studio
Something new for Sprouts Press is about to start! I’ll be teaching two workshops in a new space: Paperhouse Studios! This is a gorgeous, light-filled studio where all sorts of paper arts and creativity happens. If you haven’t been there before and you’ve signed up for this class, it’s worth arriving a bit early to get a tea, check out the Koffler Gallery and the general community of the building.
An excerpt from the course description:
“Students will be introduced to the basics of decorating cover paper with acrylic paint and a variety of tools. Followed by a quick introduction to bookbinding and the tools of the trade, students will then learn the Longstitch/Linkstitch bookbinding technique and incorporate the decorated papers.”

Join me at Toronto’s First Post Office (a working post office & museum!!) for an evening of bookbinding fun!
Learn how to make your own Hard Cover Coptic Journal with Carolyn of Sprouts Press Designs. We’ll cover the basics of bookbinding, go over the tools of the trade and then learn how to put it all together into a beautiful handcrafted journal.

Wunderkammer Show
I’ll be part of a group show, Wunderkammer: The Cabinet of Curiosities, at the new Toronto Etsy Street Team Gallery, running May 11 – 28! It’s the gallery’s first group art show, and my first art gallery show in many years. I’m really looking forward to it and hope you’ll join us at the opening (details below).
About the show:
“This art – or science art – show, is inspired by the Wunderkammer or Cabinet of Curiosity, the immense, eccentric, encyclopedic natural history collections gathered by collectors since the Renaissance. Cabinets of Curiosities featured treasured zoological, botanical, anatomical, fossil and gem specimen, collected by early citizen scientists. WUNDERKAMMER features original sculptures, drawings, hand-bound books, prints, paintings, printmaking, ceramics, jewellery, generative and multimedia specimen of natural and unnatural history on all scales, from the microscopic to the macroscopic.”

The Wayzgoose!
It’s the Wayzgoose Book Arts Fair this saturday!! If you can, take the trip out to Grimsby and join in the book & paper fun! Sprouts Press will be there along with many other talented book artists, paper makers, marblers, small presses and such!
